Eric Cotton Dexter

9th Baron of MacDuff

In 2021, Eric Cotton Dexter became the Baron of MacDuff, or the head of the Feudal Barony of MacDuff. 

Descended from the Elliots and the MacDonalds, MacDuff is passionate about history and was honored to receive this dignity - itself  part of the fabric of Scottish heritage. 

In addition to honoring historical traditions, he believes a modern barony, should find new and useful purpose, and what better way to do that, than to:

​

• support historic preservation directly, 

• grant educational scholarships to deserving students interested in studying historic preservation, 

• raise awareness, and 

• promote travel that brings travelers to experience that history first-hand.

All of this, in Northeast Scotland, where the Caput of MacDuff once stood, and with any luck, will again.
